With the success of last weeks Arrow on The CW (Over 4 million viewers and the highest rated show in 3 years for the network); people are bound to want more Oliver Queen in their life. While the show did a great job launching his return to Star(ling) City in dramatic fashion, what happened on that island to mold a drunken billionaire playboy into the social justice seeking Green Arrow? Enter GA: Year One from writer/artist team Andy Diggle & Jock (The Losers, Lenny Zero). Now I’ll admit up front, I’m a sucker for a good origin story; and when published under the ‘Year One’ banner you can expect the book to deliver. Clear character motivations, a colorful almost painted artistic pallet, visceral action, and great pacing make for a fun read. It requires zero knowledge of continuity on the part of the reader to jump in; but still rewards long-time fans with a couple of inside jokes and great reverence to previous iterations of the character.
